Lima Cusco Sacred Valley of the Incas Manu National Park

Peru, a country etched with the imprints of ancient civilizations, unfolds a narrative of unparalleled beauty and cultural heritage. A 9-day journey through Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Manu National Park presents a profound exploration of Peru’s natural and cultural riches. These destinations, each distinct in its character and allure, beckon travelers to traverse a path less trodden, unveiling the depths of history and the marvels of pristine nature.

A Voyage of Contrasts

Peru, a land of stark contrasts, boasts a landscape that encompasses soaring Andean peaks, lush rainforests, and arid deserts. This diversity extends to its cultural tapestry, which weaves together the legacies of indigenous peoples, Spanish colonialism, and modern traditions. As you embark on this 9-day expedition, you’ll come to understand that Peru is a country where these contrasts intertwine, creating a harmonious symphony of past and present.

Cusco: The Heart of the Inca Empire

Your journey commences in Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. At an altitude of over 11,000 feet, Cusco’s lofty streets wind through the city, revealing a history etched in its meticulously carved stone walls. As you explore the city, the fusion of Inca and Spanish influences becomes evident, most notably in the captivating architecture of the historic center.

The historic center of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a testament to the city’s deep-rooted history. Cobbled streets lead to grand cathedrals, quaint squares, and the imposing fortress of Sacsayhuaman. The Incas’ mastery of stonecraft is showcased in the precisely cut stones that form the foundation of many colonial buildings. Cusco is a city where every corner exudes history, where ancient myths and legends intertwine with contemporary life.

Machu Picchu: The Enigmatic Wonder

A visit to Peru would be incomplete without setting foot on the hallowed grounds of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. A train journey from Cusco takes you through the dramatic landscapes of the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to this ancient citadel.

Machu Picchu’s enigmatic charm is undeniable. Nestled high in the Andes, it offers a glimpse into the remarkable achievements of the Inca civilization. The lost city of Machu Picchu, a testament to Inca engineering and spiritual significance, is a place where history, nature, and mystery collide. Walking through its terraced fields, temples, and residential areas, you’ll feel the spirit of the Inca ancestors whisper through the stones.

Manu National Park: Pristine Amazon Wilderness

Leaving the Andes behind, you’ll journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest. A flight from Cusco takes you to the gateway of Manu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.

Manu National Park is a realm of astonishing natural beauty and ecological importance. It is home to an astounding array of wildlife, from elusive jaguars and playful river otters to vibrant macaws and inquisitive spider monkeys. The park’s diverse ecosystems encompass dense rainforests, serene oxbow lakes, and winding rivers, creating a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts and conservationists alike.

An Immersion in Peru’s Treasures

This 9-day journey offers an immersion in the soul of Peru. From the historical allure of Cusco to the enigmatic wonder of Machu Picchu and the pristine wilderness of Manu National Park, each destination tells a unique chapter of the country’s story. Peru, with its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty, is a place where history meets the present and where ancient mysteries are unveiled amidst pristine landscapes.

PERUVIAN GASTRONOMY
During the last years, the Peruvian gastronomy has become famous because of its variety and exquisiteness. Among the most known dishes you can find the ceviche, a dish made of fish and seafood marinated in lemon juice.

There is a new gastronomy trend in Cusco called “novoandina”. The novoandina cuisine is based on the creation of new dishes using local ingredients such as quinoa, quiwicha, potato, alpaca and trout. This way, we have dishes such as alpaca tenderloin with “quinotto” (risotto made of quinoa instead of rice) or grilled trout with sautéed vegetables and native potatoes.

MANU
Attractions in the Cultural Zone:
The Manu Biosphere Reserve is divided in three zones: Cultural Zone, Reserved Zone and National Park. The Cultural Zone is also known as the Transition Zone since it goes from the Andes in Cusco to the cloud forest and the edge of the rainforest in Madre de Dios. This area is inhabited by settlers that carry out agricultural, forest and livestock activities controlled by the Ministry of Environment. The health, development and education services are basic.

We suggest taking a tour to the Reserved Zone to know the rainforest at its best.

The tour in the Cultural Zone is advisable for those who doesn’t have much time and want to experience and feel the Peruvian rainforest’s nature while they enjoy the cloud forest’s landscapes. They might have the chance to meet the Andean cock-of-the-rocks, Peru’s national bird. The adventure lovers can practice mountain biking, canopy, zip line and rafting in this zone.

Your team is fully qualified to guide you and to show you the best of the area’s flora and fauna. This amazing experience will be completed by the cooks.
